“Accordion extravaganza goes “Around the World in 80 Minutes” for Manorlands
Bradford Accordion Band concert in Bingley

Saturday 29th September 2018 saw fans gather for the Bradford Accordion
Band’s annual Grand Charity Show in Bingley – this year’s event raising
funds for the Manorlands hospice in Oxenhope.

This year’s extravaganza was themed “Around the World in 80 Minutes” and
featured accordingly (or should that be “accordionly”?) music and acts from
Great Britain, Europe and beyond. These included Grand Charity Show regulars
Bazzmataz from Halifax, Gordon “Piper” Laycock on the Scottish bagpipes, the
Otley Ukulele Orchestra from Otley and the Sisters of Serbia.

With raffle prizes donated by the Sharma Restaurant in Bingley, Threshfield
Catering Supplies, the Loft in Bingley and the Cake ‘Ole in Keighley the
event was a virtual sell-out – raising much needed funds for Manorlands.

Skilfully compèred by musical director Anita Basic the event was an
international spectacular – and once again so much more than your average
accordion concert!

“We thoroughly enjoyed the concert tonight!
A lively mix of evocative, serious and amusing items on the programme, and clever and varied presentation, which kept the audience on the edge of their seats throughout.
The supporting acts were also both amusing and polished, and contrasted well with the Accordion orchestra’s music.
I thought it was a beautifully balanced performance, and ably presented by the conductor, who demonstrated, as well as her musical skills, a real Yorkshire sense of humor.
A great and successful evening.”

“An exhilarating and superb first class evenings entertainment, featuring the Bradford Accordion Band with their accomplished Musical Director, Anita Bašić, also ably displaying her comic talent as a highly entertaining compere.
The supporting acts Bazzmatazz and Encore also made a great contribution, much to the appreciation of the audience.
None more so than when during the grand finale the whole cast ‘raised the roof’ and brought the ‘house down’ with the audience displaying their huge appreciation in a spontaneous and very vociferous manner.
A great night out with proceeds in aid of a very charitable cause, Alzheimer’s.”

Reviews of a concert with Pennine Chimes, Ladies Barbershop Chorus 1.10.16. at Bingley Arts Centre.  To see a video of the finale click

The whole evening was fabulous. It must have taken a vast amount of organisation and preparation, but I have to tell you that from our side of the stage it was seamless.
The whole evening was, warm, friendly, professional, funny, humbling, enjoyable and entertaining. I don’t know anywhere that can deliver all of that.
We all would have been there to support somebody, and what you wanted the evening to be about, but what I noticed more than anything was that you managed between you all to make the whole audience come together.

**********

It was quite special – I had tears in my eyes several times – hearing Phantom of The Opera was one of them! All I can say is well done…brilliant!

**********

I must admit I was unprepared for the comedy between each number (cooking fat indeed!) but your honesty, self deprecation and sense of humour won the audience over from the start.

**********

What a resounding success!!!! You were brilliant as were your players and guests!!!! When’s the next one? I didn’t expect to laugh until I had aching ribs but I did!!!

**********

Congratulations! Amazing concert…

A huge thankyou to Bradford Accordion Band and Pennine Chimes for a splendid concert at the Bingley Arts Centre. We thoroughly enjoyed the evenings musical entertainment and light hearted comedy. Don’t know how you managed to read the music through all that smoke and flashing lights but it was a superb effort. Congratulations to everyone concerned and well done for supporting such a worthwhile cause.

I really enjoyed Saturday’s concert.  The band seems to be going from strength to strength in terms of quality.  Anita’s humorous additions also added an extra dimension.

Just to let you know how much we enjoyed the concert on Saturday. It was very entertaining and we were not expecting all the comedy! Well done to everyone concerned.
